Where Whimsy Meets Design
Hi, I’m Kathryn — artist, maker, and mischief enthusiast behind Kathryn Creates. I live and create in a place where the seasons shift with drama, the wildlife has opinions, and inspiration comes wrapped in birch trees, snowdrifts, and quiet bursts of humor.
My work is bold, playful, and rooted in storytelling. Whether it’s a moose in sunglasses, a “Peace, Love, and Plasma” mosquito, or a hand-cut stencil, everything I create is meant to spark joy, laughter, or a second look.
When I'm not creating, I’m probably outside thinking about my next weird animal idea or testing out a print on a thrifted cotton sheet.
I design with a Cricut in one hand and a mug of coffee (generously swirled with peppermint creamer) in the other. My shop started with stencils made for Gelli printing and expanded into illustrations for T-shirts, tea towels, stickers, and digital downloads — often with a touch of wilderness and whimsy. Some items are made from rescued fabric or inspired by the quiet beauty of repurposing old things into something totally new.
P.S. I’m also a college math instructor — teaching both in-person and online — and I’m always looking for new ways to enrich my teaching experiences. I'm currently looking for colleges or programs seeking dynamic, creative instructors who love helping students grow. Contact Kathryn today.
